Meet this week’s Absa Small Business Friday featured business – clicked Digital.
Founded by Mitasha Haripal and Aneesa Swart, clicked Digital is more than just a digital marketing agency, it has become a catalyst for creative strategies, innovative thinking and measurable growth, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Behind this agency there is a journey of passion, resilience and a drive to empower businesses that often lack the resources to unlock their full digital potential.
From corporate powerhouses to purpose-driven entrepreneurs
Mitasha and Aneesa’s story begins in 2020, a year marked by uncertainty as the world faced the global pandemic. Both were thriving in their corporate careers at Edcon, with Mitasha leading digital marketing for Jet and Aneesa heading ThankU Marketing. Despite their success, they felt a pull toward something more fulfilling—something that allowed them to make a tangible difference for smaller businesses that form the backbone of South Africa’s economy.
“Our corporate careers had given us incredible skills and experiences, but we wanted to package that expertise to make a real impact on SMEs,” they explained. With this vision, clicked Digital was born—an agency dedicated to providing businesses of all sizes with the tools to build, grow and sustain their brands in the digital space.
Partnering with businesses for digital success
Mitasha and Aneesa see themselves as partners in their clients’ journeys. Their mission is to tailor innovative strategies that meet each business’s unique goals, helping them navigate the complexities of today’s dynamic digital marketplace.
“Whether it’s building a brand from the ground up or accelerating an established online presence, we tailor our approach to meet unique business goals,” says Mitasha.
With offerings that range from website design, brand development and social media marketing to SEO and email marketing, clicked ensures that businesses are equipped to thrive online. The duo’s ability to blend visionary creativity with data-driven insights has been instrumental in helping their clients unlock new growth opportunities.
Turning challenges into opportunities
The journey, however, has not been without its challenges. One of the toughest moments came when the company lost two major clients during a critical financial period. It was a blow that could have derailed their momentum, but instead, they used it as an opportunity to reassess their strategy, refine their services and streamline their operations.
“We didn’t cut corners or downsize our team. Instead, we focused on strengthening our foundation and becoming more agile,” Aneesa recalls. This approach not only stabilised the business but set them on a path of sustainable growth.
A growing team, bigger impact
Today, clicked Digital is a thriving business with a growing team of seven talented professionals and a presence in Johannesburg’s business hub, Sandton. Their status as Google Partners speaks to the level of expertise and credibility they bring to the table, and their reputation for delivering data-driven, performance-focused solutions continues to attract major brands.
Scaling the team and establishing a solid structure has been a proud achievement for Mitasha and Aneesa. “We’ve built a company that’s not only creative but operationally sound, with a solid foundation for continued growth,” they share.
Supporting South Africa’s youth and SMEs
At its core, clicked Digital is about more than just business—it’s about community and empowerment. Mitasha and Aneesa are passionate about using their platform to create opportunities for young talent in South Africa. With youth unemployment being one of the country’s most pressing challenges, they prioritise hiring young professionals, equipping them with digital skills, and giving them the opportunity to grow.
“In a digital-first world, young people bring fresh perspectives and adaptability. We believe that investing in youth is essential for fostering innovation and driving economic growth,” says Mitasha.
By empowering both SMEs and the next generation of professionals, clicked Digital is playing an important role in creating a more inclusive, vibrant economy.
Building a legacy of success
“Our journey has been about more than just building a business. It’s been about building a community and making a positive impact on the lives of our clients, partners and team,” they say.
For any small business owner looking for inspiration, Mitasha and Aneesa’s story is a testament to the power of resilience, purpose and a vision that goes beyond personal success. It’s about using your skills and experiences to uplift others, create opportunities and ultimately contribute to a thriving economy.
Why supporting SMEs matters
Mitasha and Aneesa are firm believers in the potential of SMEs to drive economic growth and innovation in South Africa. They see small businesses as essential not only for creating jobs but also for providing young people with the skills and opportunities they need to succeed.
“Supporting small businesses, especially those that invest in youth, can have a ripple effect—boosting employment, enhancing skills and ultimately contributing to the economic empowerment of the next generation,” they explain.
In an era where digital is king, clicked Digital is helping SMEs harness their potential and thrive in a competitive landscape.
